The UCAnyTime team routinely supports videoconferencing units that were manufactured or are running software releases that are many years old. Due to the myriads of different hardware and software versions of videoconferencing endpoints from a variety of manufacturers there is no single one way to have all those system dial into our service. Below you will find a recommended test pattern that will allow you to identify what dialing and configuration scenario will work for your video endpoint.

There are two main methods configuring an endpoint for firewall traversal:

  • NAT / Public IP: In this method a NAT is defined on the firewall assigning a public IP to the endpoint. This is the common method for endpoints not supporting H.460 or if you want external people to dial into your room system via IP.
  • H.460 Firewall Traversal: In this method, the endpoint is not assigned with a public IP and it is using H.460 standard in order to traverse the firewall.
H.460 is a set of extensions to the ITU H.323 standard that include methods to traverse firewalls. Devices that use H.460, implement a set of security policies that a firewall can be configured to accept. Therefore using H.460, videoconference endpoints can communicate across a firewall. H.460 compliant video conferencing systems can enable firewall traversal even with a tightly administered set of firewall policies.

Based on your endpoint configuration please refer to one of the sections below:

For NAT / Public IP configured endpoints:

  1. Dial a public videoconferencing test system outside of your organization and confirm that you are receiving audio and video from it. Public Video Test Systems are:
    71.14.2.157 or 71.14.2.158 – provided by http://vtctest.pointsofdata.com/
    140.242.250.200 or 140.242.250.203 or 40.242.250.204 – provided by Polycom

If you are unable to connect to those sites or are not receiving any video and audio from those sites – contact you current videoconferencing system support team as there may be routing or firewall issues keeping you from being able to connect.

  2. If the above is successful then attempt to dial into the following video test room 96914043111@159.54.57.9 – alternatively 159.54.57.9##96914043111
This room is limited to a maximum of 2 participants at a time. If successful you should see a round trip image of yourself – for an audio test also connect via this link below from your PC or MAC: http://join.ucanytime.com/scopia/mt/demo?ID=96914043111&autojoin

  3. If your videoconferencing unit is a Polycom ViewStation, VS 4000, Tandberg Classic or other older system then your system is unable to dial @ or ## signs in which case you can attempt to dial 159.54.57.9 and enter your meeting room by entering MeetingRoomID via DTMF tones (usually # on the remote control switches to DTMF tones)

  4. If you are unable to join via the above methods then try to register your videoconferencing unit to our gatekeeper. Please use the 10 digit phone number of i.e. the phone in the videoconferencing room as the E.164 and set your gatekeeper to manual. The E.164 number has to be unique and two units cannot register with the same number thus our suggestion to use the local phone number.
Enter 159.54.57.9 as the Gatekeeper IP address. Please make your Gatekeeper ID a human readable name – we suggest – Organization Name, Location, Room, etc. – i.e. Red Cross Atlanta DuPont Room.

Confirm that your system can register to the Gatekeeper. If the gatekeeper registration is confirmed – then you only have to dial the meeting room number and you should be able to join your room directly. No need to dial more than your 9691…. Meeting Room ID

For Units behind a firewall with no NAT – Dialing via H.460 Firewall Traversal

Specific ports might be open on your firewall - Please check with your Network Administrator. For details please see this section

  2. If the above is successful then attempt to dial into the following video test room 96914043111@159.54.57.11 – alternatively 159.54.57.11##96914043111

This room is limited to a maximum of 2 participants at a time. If successful you should see a round trip image of yourself – for an audio test also connect via this link below from your PC or MAC:
    http://join.ucanytime.com/scopia/mt/demo?ID=96914043111&autojoin

  3. If your videoconferencing unit is a Polycom ViewStation, VS 4000, Tandberg Classic or other older system then your system is unable to dial @ or ## signs in which case you can attempt to dial 159.54.57.11 and enter your meeting room by entering MeetingRoomID via DTMF tones (usually # on the remote control switches to DTMF tones)

  4. If you cannot connect your unit as described above then you can attempt to use our H.460 firewall traversal mechanism:
Enable H.460 Firewall traversal on your Polycom HDX and RPG, LifeSize or Cisco/Tandberg endpoint. You can attempt to use H.460 Gatekeeper registration:
    • Enter 159.54.57.11 as the gatekeeper IP.
    • Use a 10 digit phone number you control as the E.164. \
    • Confirm that you are able to register to this gatekeeper.
    • If gatekeeper registration is confirmed – then you only need to dial your Meeting Room ID to enter the Meeting Room. (for example dial 96914043111)

How to create a service ticket and obtain support

If you are unable to connect with bi-directional audio and video then please collect the following information and send it to support@ucanytime.com to open a support case. You will get an immediate reply with your ticket ID and one our technicians will reply or contact you with the next steps:

  • Detailed problem description (I can connect but no audio, video one way, I cannot connect at all, call drops after 1 minute etc.
  • Your videoconferencing endpoint, make / model / software version
  • Is the endpoint configured for NAT or H.460?
  • If Using H.460, can the endpoint register successfully with the gatekeeper?
  • Which room are you trying to connect to?
  • How do you dial? Example:
    • Room@IP
    • Room-number
    • IP##room
  • Can the endpoint connect?
  • Is there Video both ways?
  • Is there data?

If there are any connectivity issues:

What is the firewall make/model that you are connecting through? Is your firewall administrator available to support with trouble shooting? If so copy him on the case that you are opening.
